Questions and answers
Who can use Hingtam?
Anyone 18 or older. Hingtam is made for Bhutanese people looking to make meaningful connections, and for anyone who loves the culture.
Is it free?
Yes. You can join, swipe and chat for free. Optional paid plans (Pro and Premium) add things like more daily swipes and seeing who has liked you.
How do you keep me safe?
Photos are checked automatically, every report is read by a person, and you can block or hide anyone. We do not run background checks, so we share safety tips and encourage you to meet in public places.
Where is my data kept?
On secure cloud servers in the Asia-Pacific region. We never sell your information.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, any time in Settings. Your profile, photos and messages are erased straight away. If you cannot open the app, see the Delete my account page.
When does it launch?
Soon. We will announce the launch here on the website as soon as it is ready.
How do I report someone?
Open their profile or your chat with them and tap Report. Choose a reason. Reporting also blocks them for you straight away, and a person at Hingtam reads the report.
Someone is asking me for money. What do I do?
Do not send anything. Block and report them. Asking for money is a scam, and it leads to an immediate, permanent ban. See the Safety Centre for help numbers and what to do next.
I think my account was banned by mistake.
Email support@hingtam.com within 90 days. We will take another look and reply, normally within 14 days.
A photo of mine was rejected. Why?
Every photo is checked automatically for nudity and graphic violence. These checks can make mistakes. Email us and a person will look at it.
How do I cancel a paid plan?
Plans are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, so you cancel there. Settings in the app has a link. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the plan, so cancel first.
How do I hide my age, or hide when I was last active?
In Settings. You can also hide your whole profile. You will not appear in anyone's deck, but your matches stay.
Does Hingtam check who people are?
No. We do not run background checks or check ID. Photo screening and reports help us catch problems, but they do not replace the habits in Safety Tips.
